Essay:Ben Gider means Bangidar
Hi, this is Erdem from Middle East Technical University. I would like to talk about someting interesting happened yesterday. I am forth-year student at department of chemistry and I am taking course named "Undergraduate researches". For these course, I was assigned one of the laboratories to work with another student taking the same course. There is also someone from Kenya who comes METU two months ago for master.
There is a device named hot plate in our laboratory but it broken down when tried to use it for the first time and started to smoke. Therefore we asked our professor to buy new one.
Yesterday she came laboratory and asked us whether we need anything else or not, like chemicals or glass material. And we tolked about our needs. Then she went back her room and have a phone called to store that sells hot plate and after that she told us she would inform us when the hot plate come.
After she went to her room, we waited about half an hour for her to call us, but she did not. I told other student "Beş dakika daha aramazsa ben giderim odasına." and he replied me "Hayır, ben giderim". But then very intersting question come from the our new friend from Kenya "You are saying bangidar, what does it mean". His prononciation very difficult for us and we did not understand in fact we could not sure what he meant. Then he continued to speak and explain: "Bangidar means I am going in Kenya languages. What does it mean in Turkish?"
It is interesting, isn't it.
